Name the activity – Darley Dale has it!

Surety Care’s new homes are in Darley Dale in Derwent Valley on the edge of the Peak District; an area known for the 7 peaks that surround it. Decent walking and hiking trails, plenty of climbing and abseiling opportunities, a Bronze Age stone circle and great views over Bakewell, Matlock and Stanton Moor.

There are a whole host of other outdoor activities for young people in Darley Dale and the surrounding towns of Matlock and Bakewell too.

There’s the Darley Dale Juniors U15 for keen footballers, who play in the North Derbyshire Youth Football League U15 Division 1. There’s talk of the homes partnering with the football clubs (watch this space!)

There’s white water rafting on the River Derwent, where, together with qualified rafting guides, moderate white water rapids can be enjoyed. Also on the River Derwent from Darley Bridge to Matlock Bath there’s an awesome 4 mile canoe trip experience to be had.

If biking is more their thing, there’s 16 top cycling routes around Darley Dale.

Whitworth Park is a beautiful 10 acre park down the road with a cafe and lake and next to it is Darley Dale Station where you can climb aboard steam trains at weekends. A four mile section of the former Midland Railway line has been reconstructed between Rowsley and Matlock Station and there are plans to re-open the line all the way to Buxton in the future.

There’s a great choice of indoor activities too with the local Whitworth centre in Darley Dale which has everything from yoga, pilates, table tennis, snooker tables and a swimming pool.

The young people at our homes will be anything but bored. There’s something for everyone.
