Derwent View is a children’s home which is provided by Surety Care Ltd. It is part of a large Victorian building on the edge of the peak district, based in Matlock, Derbyshire

It is a specialist home that provides a service to support young people aged from 12 – 17, of both sexes, who are experiencing social, emotional and/or mental health problems and associated challenging behaviour and heightened risk profiles. These may include deliberate self-harm, suicidal ideation, aggression, absconding or other vulnerabilities. The young people in Derwent View may also present as neurodiverse or with emergent personality problems.
The accommodation is registered for 2 young people.
There are 2 spacious bedrooms which are both ensuite. There are shared communal areas including a spacious open plan living room. There is also a large spacious kitchen and dining area.
Young people referred to the home will receive a comprehensive assessment including preferences, history, strengths, needs, attachment and transition issues and risk. They will be deemed suitable to reside together following a compatibility risk assessment and robust matching protocols to ensure that the home remains as stable as possible for all young people accommodated.
Placement Plans, Transition Planning and Admission plans will be co-produced (where possible) with the young person and relevant members of their care and support network.
Most of the young people who stay long term are placed under either Section 20 or Section 31 care orders.
